Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the team with dynamic leadership that promotes an environment of support, development, engagement, and high productivity. This includes, but is not limited to, hiring, coaching, performance management, ensuring productivity, disciplinary action, cross-training, rewards and recognition, and succession planning.
Drive a strong customer service culture while adhering to the highest safety standards.
Ensure production and quality 3-day turnaround time is met, and, where applicable, exceeded.
Control costs. This includes managing expenses related to operational activities, such as equipment, labor, and supplies.
Create and update laboratory technical procedures (analytical methods).
Enforce quality policies. Train technical staff on procedures and techniques.
Oversee data quality and review. Generate analytical reports for customers.
Participate in all internal and external audits.
Help maintain inventory supplies. This includes order requests and storage of materials (i.e. analytical reference materials).
Monitor the maintenance of analytical instrumentation.
Evaluate both OOS and CAPA reports with the Lab Director and Quality team.
Obtain traceable, reproducible, and reliable results with limited supervision.
Provide opinions and interpretations when necessary regarding the quality and meaning of analytical data contained within analytical reports provided to customers.
Maintain effective communication with all levels of employees throughout the organization.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

Ability to maintain an incredibly high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidence, confidentially, and composure during difficult and/or complex situations.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced deadline environment while successfully managing multiple tasks.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong understanding of standard laboratory protocol.
Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively work, influence, problem solve, and communicate with all levels of the organization.
Proven track record in people leadership (supporting, developing, engaging) with demonstrated team building and collaboration skills.
Proven track record in adapting to change and accelerating the performance of laboratory groups.
Demonstrated ability to be well balanced between the strategic view of the work and the execution aspect of the role.
Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel.

Education and Experience

Required: A bachelor’s degree in a related field from a four-year college or university plus at least four (4) years of relevant laboratory operations and management experience.
Required: Advanced
